The Electronic Tax Module (MF-e) is mandatory equipment for issuing electronic tax documents in the State of Ceará. This model replaces the Fiscal Coupon Issuer (ECF), an old fiscal printer.

This is hardware for validation and authorization of electronic tax coupons, developed to authorize the coupons locally, even before they reach the servers of the Secretariat of Finance (SEFAZ) of Ceará, in order to offer a safe “contingency” mode.
In Brazil, only Ceará uses the electronic Fiscal Module. This particularity of the state in relation to the issuance of the electronic tax coupon is very similar to the São Paulo SAT (Tax Administration System), which is widely used in that state.
